  • I found a Groupon for this place so came to try a few classes (5) with a friend. If you are looking to get into this seriously, I would recommend taking all your classes with the same instructor - I find that since different instructors all have different teaching styles, it's hard to feel like you're making progress if you're jumping around from class to class. That being said, all of the instructors make the class fun and enjoyable, so you can't really go wrong with any of them. I tried classes with Seija, Holly and another instructor (sorry I forget her name) and ultimately stuck with Holly for my last two classes. I was lucky enough to get my own pole during all of my sessions (i.e. didn't have to share poles with anyone) and even then there were times when I felt like I wasn't getting enough time on the pole (I felt like sometimes too much time was spent just standing or listening to the instructor talk or watching her demo a move on the pole.) Obviously, having a drop-in kind of class system is convenient because it is flexible for people, schedule-wise. However, I kind of wish they also had the option to do like a 4-week course or something with the same group of people each time so you could actually build on your skills and feel like you were progressing at the same pace together. While I definitely felt like I got a pretty good workout during each session, for myself personally, I also felt like there was a bit too much danciness during the lessons - I would have preferred more time spent solely on pole and less on trying to be sexy. At the end of the day, I still think pole dancing is a really fun and awesome way to work out and let loose and get a little bit creative with the dancing parts. I mean, the arm and core strength required to do some of these moves is just unbelievable, and I have so much respect for all the instructors here and pole dancers in general. I think the method of teaching of Brass Vixens just didn't really work for me, but I also hope that doesn't discourage anyone from giving this place a try if they are interested!
