If you went to Pitt there's a strong chance you've been to Hemingway's. Only a few feet from the Pitt store, and all the other restaurants in the vicinity of campus, Hemingway's Cafe's name could be a bit misleading. Rather than being a traditional cafe where fresh, homemade meals are mixed up from scratch, the main attraction is beer and great prices.
I came here to meet my cousin for lunch (who goes to school at Pitt) and she explained to me that students come here for two reasons: dirt cheap food and beer. There's 40 beers on tap, friendly service and impressove prices for the portions divvied up.
Don't expect award winning food. Everything looked and tasted average, but surrounded by so many average chains a bite at Hemingway's isn't a bad thing. Another plus is the menu offers a wide range of choices that can satisfy anyone's craving. Keep in mind, it's also one of the few places open til 2am and with a kitchen cooking till midnight.
