| - Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat! Electric Daisy Carnival or EDC, is the once a year rave that takes place in Las Vegas. What better place for this event to be other than under the bright lights or as they say in the rave culture, Under the Electric Sky.
EDC is the one place where everybody comes together as one to experience love and PLUR(Peace Love Unity Respect.) This was my first time coming to this event. It is not a festival. It is not a concert but a rave! Big difference. Having been taking place at the famed Las Vegas Motor Speedway for about 5 years, this event draws people from all over the world to see the best and most famous DJ's. I got to see just about the best of the best. I can go on and on about who I saw, but here are a few that I got to see-Dada Life, Eric Prydz, Flosstradamus, Nicky Romero, Alesso, DJ Snake, Carl Cox, and so many more.
EDC is set up by different stages designed for the different sub genres of EDM. The layout of the Wasteland stage was by far my favorite. Kinetic Field was the main stage and also the most crowded stage. Circuit Grounds was the stage where I saw my favorite set-Dada Life. Funk House was a retro 70's style stage with bangin tunes. Bass Pod had the drum n bass playing all night long.
The road to get here, well, that story can be described as hell. Leave early, right when the festival starts, which runs from 7pm to 6am. The first 2 days I ended up leaving my room around 9pm. By 12 midnight, I had arrived. It is best to shuttle it here, as you will not have to deal with the horrendous traffic. To get out when the event ended each night was even worse. M suggestion is to leave before the sun rises! EDC has rides, kiosks, merchandise and restrooms with very long lines! Considering this is a well known worldwide event, you might even have to chance to see somebody famous! Walter White(Heisenberg from Breaking Bad) opened up the set for trance greats Above and Beyond!
The 3 day event is only permitted entrance by wristband. To purchase one, it runs from around $350. And that's if you purchase in advance. Yes there is a clusterf**k of foot traffic, as well as outside the venue, but it is well worth the try. EDC is the one place where you can truly be yourself. You feel the love and positive vibes once you step in the grounds. You make friends here without even knowing it! EDC is the one event that everybody should try. I do not consider myself a raver, but this event sure opened up my eyes and ears to new sounds and experiences. I would most definitely be going back next year...just by way of shuttle instead of having to drive there! Come in peace or don't come at all..................EDC, see you next year
