  • I think I found Toronto worst jewelry store, I found it completely laughable that this place is called 'Jewellery Designs' because I couldn't find a single knowledgeable staff who knew an ounce about gemstones or precious metals. My first year in Canada I went to school with this really tall girl named Eva. Eva was one of those girls who would be one of duck to swan stories, but I was keen enough to realize her model face and I was immediately smitten with her at the age of freaking nine! So when I saw her commercial for this particular Casio timepiece fifteen years later, I was completely overcome by my ego, and I just needed to own that watch. I don't wear jewelry unless it's given to me, but I was running low on friends who give gifts above the 1k mark, so I found myself shopping around Toronto to find the particular model. The timepiece sold for around $1200, never going over $1300, so when I saw the price-tag of $1500+ in Berani, I had to investigate the reason for this mark-up. So the place is somewhat separated between the main showroom, and the Swarovski Crystal section. Any serious patron of Jewelry patron would not give a moment of their time looking at anything from Swarovski, so I roamed around the display cases, taking my time examining the rest of the merchandise. There are about six to seven of those chairs with the enclosed top which turns all sound into echos when one is seated in them, which was perhaps the only non-tacky element to the neon-blue ambiance of the store. I was offered help, and on the second attempt I started a casual conversation with whom I presume of only a saleswomen. I asked her about the origins of the pearl on one of the necklaces, and she had to ask another woman. I asked whether if there were any natural pearl jewelry for purchase, and so told me not only was there none, but also that she's n ever even seen a natural pearl, nor does she know what it looks like. I was pretty surprised by her statement, a jewelry salesperson who has never seen one of the most coveted forms of jewelry? So I began lecture #152 of jewelry 101 to a jewelry salesperson. She followed me about, and when we came to another section I asked her the origins of the diamonds used on one of their items, and after two minutes of investigative research among all the women in the store, I was given the answer of those ever-so frustration words; I don't know. So they are saying that this 'Jewelry Designer' doesn't know where they get their jewelry....something doesn't add up. The saleswomen eventually gave up after realizing that she was unable to be of any help, and I was left alone to further explore the pieces of mundane merchandise. I finally arrived at the timepiece display case where I was offered help by another salesperson. I was shown to the timepiece of interest, which I noticed had very minor scratch marks on the bracelet. By this time, I completely lost interest in the place and it's employees. The air of desperation for a sale stunk up the entire place upon arrival, the utter unprofessionalism of their cluelessness soured the experience, and overall I felt this place was as sketchy as a shoebox. I can't imagine any reason to shop here.
