I'm a Cox Broadband customer only. I will report the good first. My internet speed that I'm paying for is supposed to be 100Mbps. In my area I consistently get around 97Mbps with speed tests. I'm very happy with that. The times I've had to use technical support, they've been friendly and helpful....except a recent online support chat session I had where the guy gave me wrong answers and was only interested in upselling me to a bundle. It is technical support, dude...not sales.
Anyway, now the bad. Cox has quietly put a data limit on all of their plans. 1Tb max, then they will start to charge you in 10Gb blocks. Granted, 1Tb is a good amount of data. Even in my house with three kids constantly streaming something we've only come as close as 800Gb in a month. However, thinking to the future when more bandwidth is available and higher resolution streaming becomes en vogue....you will hit that quickly. Hear me UltraHD streamers?
The reason I'm writing this unflattering review is I see our internet bill is also going up....AGAIN. So....less for more. Cap my data and charge more. I suppose it is the American way. Especially when you basically have a cozy monopoly. Internet service providers aren't considered a utility so their pricing isn't reviewed by the corporation commission.
Someday, Cox...there may be alternative. I'll remember this gougefest when that day comes. BTW, I dropped your overpriced phone service so that I could afford to keep sucking from your broadband teet.
