Unassuming shop with no sign outside, selling some delectable pastries. On our last day in Montreal, we were eating lunch in the neighborhood and decided to stop by this popular place for "dessert". The Kouign amann is buttery and heavenly, with just the right amount of sweetness. Soft on the inside, and a little crunchy on the outside from the caramelized sugar. It was so good that I consumed the entire pie within minutes, despite just having a pretty big lunch.
I haven't had many kouign amann, but have def eaten my fair share of french pastries both in North America and in France, and this for sure was a memorable pastry experience for me.
If we come back to Montreal again I may consider booking a hotel closer to this place...
