  • Let me just say, terrible terrible TERRIBLE service. I mean, I cannot express how TERRIBLE the service was. And being a server myself, I'm pretty lenient about what I think of a place since I know how easily things can shift from good to bad for a server and what can cause problems. In this case, it was the SERVER with the problem. I got there at around 6:40 to meet a large party of about 20 people for dinner and the show. We moved into the other room for the show and were given most of the back room to ourselves. The hostess wasn't super friendly. Kept looking down at her ringing cell phone "hidden" behind the host stand. One table received the regular menus from a different server (not ours). By the time our server came to greet us it was just after 7. Our server introduces himself and hands out their special menus. The one where everything is $35 no matter what you buy, since it includes admission. But we had admission waved as a large party so when our leader pointed out the fact that we shouldn't have the special menus, and that one of our tables already had the regular menus, his reply was just "Oh, that shouldn't have happened" He then confirmed with his manager, that he was wrong, and dropped off regular menus,(not enough for everyone), in an annoyed fashion, because now the bill will be cheaper since we're only paying 10 an entree instead of 35. So then he starts taking food and drink orders, goes around, making sure everyone knows there's a 2 drink minimum, and gets to me. I ask what's on tap, he tells me (nothing special), I ask him what's in the bottle, he says "lots more". So I ask for a drink menu, and he says sure I"ll be right back with that. Finishes taking everyone's food and drink order, and walks away. 20 MINUTES LATER (7:20) he starts coming back with drinks, (2 at a time only, no tray, no help), and delivers everyone's drinks over the next 5 minutes. I stop him and ask him again, "can I get that drink menu?", he walks away, then comes back puts the menu down in front of me and walks away. It was 7:30 by the time he finally looked at me, remembered he hasn't even gotten my drink order yet even though the food was probably almost ready, and comes up to me saying "Sorry man." All good buddy, right? I give him my drink order. 2 minutes later he comes back and asks me what I had ordered again. Really? A riesling and an Amber Bock. So hard. I stop him as he walks away and ask him if I can put in my food order. I figure he won't remember until he sees my empty spot with everyone else's food in front of them. I got the southern fried chicken wings, mainly because it's a fast cook and I don't wanna wait forever. He finishes handing out everyone else's drinks (2nd round), and finally gives me my drinks. It's 7:42. An HOUR!!! 1 HOUR to get my drinks!!! My food came not too much later than everyone else's. Maybe he actually asked for it on the fly, I dunno. Or maybe it just cooks that much faster than everything else. Either way it was OK. Nothing special, but decent chicken wings with hot sauce and ranch. Wha'd I really expect for southern fried chicken. Everyone else seemed to really like their food. Some of it did look really good. It was a pretty limited menu though. 8 apps, 6 soups/salads, and maybe 10 entrees to choose from. The music was good, maybe a little loud, but the singer was really good. The main act was a little quieter, more of background music than a performer. A good trumpeter. Back to the service, it wasn't until everyone was mostly done with their food that he finally came back and asked if everything was good. Didn't offer anyone dessert, and check time, wow. Asked every single person if they needed change. Bad form. So rude. And if they said no, he would look at the receipt and take a quick peek at what they had left him, right there at the table as he was walking away. Anyone with a credit card, he would take the signed receipt from in front of them as well, while they were still sitting there. Also bad form. Obvious what he cared more about that night. Let's just say, this was my first and last time at Doc's. No second chances for this one.
