  • The Golden Tiki was my next stop on my Saturday night. It's new, its trendy, its hip. I guess. There is free valet parking out back that I highly recommend because the parking lot out front is usually crowded and tough to get in and out of due to traffic. The same shopping area as Kung Fu and across the street from Krung Siam. Corner of Valley View/Spring Mtn. A doorman out front opened up the very dark interior to what was at first look, a gaming bar just like hundreds in Vegas. It wasn't too crowded at the bar at 8pm, so I sat down and was brought a menu by the bar back, along with a glass of water. Too dark to really read the drink menu. There are several side booths and 4 tops surrounding the center gaming bar, and these all seemed to be full. As the night went on, the bar definitely filled up with people checking it out. Decor is pretty cool....tropic themed. Same with the music. I felt like I walked into a newer, cleaner, larger version of Frankie's Tiki Room. TV screen behind the bar just showed gaming information and not sports or anything so that kind of sucked. I mean, two hours reading how much you can win during Gamblers Bonus??? Drinks are interesting. Bartender April was very nice and remembered my name, even though it was busy and they were working hard keeping drinks made. All drinks were measured out and you could see the bartenders using the cheat cards to make them. My first drink the Painkiller was delicious and well executed. My 2nd drink the Honey Mango Java Punch was...well....not good. Tasted like pure alcohol. Rubbing alcohol that is. I kept hoping it would get better but it never did. Definitely a trendy hipster style gaming bar. Maybe I'm too old to be hanging out in places like this. Frankie's is a better fit, plus the bartenders are outstanding at Frankies and the drinks always taste great. Here....not so much. Maybe it will get better but it seems like they are overworked and it takes a long time to get a drink. I might come back in a year to see if its improved. In the meantime I'll visit the other Tiki room for some excellent cocktails.
