I'll give you the run down on this place. I currently live here, and I AM signing a new lease to live here another year. Maybe it's because moving is such a pain that I don't want to haul my couches down those stairs, but that's besides the point.
This place is full of college kids. Don't get me wrong. The walls ARE thin (and yes you can hear people open and close drawers) but the people here are like 'family' if you get to know them.
Everyone hangs down by the pool. The music is loud, you can drink down there. I've seen a keg or two on occasion located pool side. The gym is always clean, the premises is always clean. Yes sometimes its a pain to find parking (especially when you buy groceries).
Truth be told the location of this place is what saves it. I can walk to the Carlsbad Tavern (delicious green chili food) and have a few drinks, walk back. It's right off the greenbelt 30 mile stretch of get out and go, it's right next to El Dorado park. You can walk to the Fry's grocery store right there if you need something... CVS is right in walking distance. You can walk to Miller st and catch the Old Town Scottsdale Trolley. It's prime real estate.
Ya just gotta put up with the overpriced rent and the noise on occasion (during the summer is the worst time). Oh yea, and if you can, try and get on the third floor. Living on the second was a bad decision on my behalf.
PS: If you want a quieter apartment, the people in the office will letcha know what areas get the most complains and will set you up with somewhere decent. I wouldn't for-go this place. And I've looked around elsewhere in the area. You're gunna get college wherever you go within a 5 mile radius of ASU.
PSS: You can move to another Equity Apartment without any lease penalties. So if I start to hate this place after my 6 month lease, then I can go elsewhere.
