| - HOWDY Y'ALL!!! I first sampled Joe's Real BBQ take out when I was at a get together at a friends house in Gilbert, and I swore to check out the restaurant next time I was in Gilbert, and I am sure glad I did!!!
Joe's BBQ is located in downtown Gilbert ... It's easy to locate due to great signage right on the corner of a block ... There seemed to be ample parking close by, which I found right away.
When you walk in its a very relaxed country style atmosphere with vintage items like a john deer tractor and an old gasoline pump - loved it!
There is ample seating both inside when you first walk in, then there was another air conditioned seating area next door, and then there was also a lot of outdoor seating at picnic tables. It even looked like there was some corn-hole games set up outside in the grass - what a super cool fun space!!!
If you have never been in here it may be a bit confusing at first, so feel free to ask for help as I did ;) When you order food it's done in a cafeteria like fashion and if there's a lot of people in line it's best to know what your going to get before you step up to the plate ;)
I decided to get a large "to-go" order and I mentioned to the people helping me that this was my first time there so I may appear to be a little lost/spaced out, The gentleman assisting everyone with their orders was very kind and patient.
I decided to try a meat plate with two meats, two sides, and two pieces of corn bread. I went with the brisket that was chopped up, the turkey sausage, the Mac n cheese, and the BBQ beans.
The food was amazing despite the fact that I live about 20min away - the brisket here is awesome - very tender and with BBQ sauce it becomes the bomb.com ... The turkey sauce is very good too. The Mac n cheese is a lil bit burnt to perfection, which I love, and WOWZA these BBQ beans are prob my fav beans of all time - no joke! There is a bunch of stuff in these beans, and I'm not even sure of all that's in them, but they rock! The corn bread is good, not the best I've ever had, but when you add their special butter they go from good to very good!!!
All the staff I encountered at Joe's was great and everyone was very helpful since I was a bit slow and unsure of what to order since I was a first timer. When I left I noticed that they even had an outdoor spot on the side of the building where you could place/pick up orders, which was pretty snazzy if I say so myself ....
I would rate Joe's real BBQ a solid 4.5 stars if that was possible - the staff was pleasant, the food was veeeery good - I can't say it's the best BBQ I've ever had, but it was up there, and most importantly for the fairly large portion size I think the prices are reasonable .... Heck yeaaa Y'all I recan that I'm a Joe's fan, and I will be back reaaal soon to mack on more of that deeeeelicious brisket!! And I would absolutely recommend others to come dine at Joe's too! ;)
