What a fun night. Thanks Kris and YelpGTA!!!
I attended a truffle making workshop put on by chocolate tales. It was held at goemans appliances of all places. We took over the fantastic dream model kitchen for the evening.
An aside: this place is awesome will be back to shop - I need a new washer!
David from chocolate tales was our instructor for the night. Great teacher.
You might wonder why the heck we were at an appliance store making truffles. Was it a store promotion?Do they regularly have classes? Am I punking you?
Nope. Chocolate tales is an event service business. They don't have a store front, or workshop room. They travel around the GTA holding workshops in cafes, pubs, appliance stores, homes, businesses. You can rent them. They bring all the supplies, set up and clean up!
So we started piping chocolate into a chocolate shell and topping it with more chocolate. Easy and not messy. That comes later.
We were given chocolate blocks and cut out to punch out shapes, dip them in chocolate and decorate them. Fun and easy and messy. Well messier for some *cough me cough*
Then we got to make chocolate balls with the left over chocolate. Everyone made perfectly formed pretty round balls. Mine looked more like cat poop. They were ovalish no matter what I did. Still tasted darn good when I ate it!! Best part of this, if you messed anything up you just ate the mistakes. Note: I made a lot of mistakes!
Hands covered in chocolate we rolled the first shelled balls in chocolate and chilled them in the model fridge.
They gave us fancy bags and ribbons to put our confections in. And boxes.
This was such a fun night. Chocolate tales was great. Can't wait to hire them for the next bachlorette party or baby shower I host!!
