  • I have been meaning to try Menchies for ages and I finally got a chance to last night. At first I was a little perplexed by the setup as I was not familiar with the self-serve fro-yo process. I felt quite giddy upon the realization that I was in total control of what went into my magical Menchies cup (WARNING: these cups are HUGE! Do not fill up the cup!). Let's go through the steps together, shall we? Step 1: FRO-YO SELECTION There are an array of frozen yogurt flavours. This, while awesome, is also daunting as the thought of selecting a flavour or two (well, I suppose you could just mix them all, but let's not lose our heads!) is remarkably challenging. They do make this decision slightly easier for you by providing small cups for sampling. Apparently they rotate the flavours that are "on tap," but when I was there they had vanilla, chocolate, cake batter, pumpkin, pina colada, tart, and carrot cake...can't recall the rest, but there were a lot!) I chose pumpkin and cake batter and was very happy with both selections. Step 2: PILE ON TOPPINGS I could not believe how many toppings there were to choose from! It's seriously everything you could ever hope to put on fro yo and more! I'm not even going to attempt to name them all, just trust me when I say they've got whatever it is you're looking for. I went with toasted coconut, graham cracker crumbs, cheesecake pieces, Reece's pieces, chocolate sprinkles and maraschino cherries. YUM! Step 3: POUR ON SAUCES OK, something about the sauces struck me as gilding the lily...I looked down at my bowl and was quite pleased with the contents sans sauce. However, I figured I might as well get the whole Menchies experience. I put chocolate sauce on 1/2 and caramel sauce on the other 1/2. I think I will be skipping this step in the future. It really doesn't need it and it makes your frozen yogurt melt faster. As a super slow eater, this outcome was not appreciated. Step 4: PAY FOR YOUR CREATION They charge you based on the weight of the cup...try to be mindful of that as you load the cup up with goodies (I tried to select items with less girth). I had a pretty good amount of frozen yogurt and toppings (about 1/2 the cup was full) and mine only came to 3.95! Not too shabby at all! There is no doubt in my mind that I will become a regular Menchies customer. It's just too awesome a concept to pass up! Added Bonus: The decor is simply adorable. It creates a fun and carefree environment. Perfect to sit and enjoy a delicious frozen treat with friends! Also? Any place that I can get free stickers and press-on tats is an instant winner in my books!
