| - Chicken Roasting Company is like your favorite pair of old jeans- soft, comfy, faded, make your butt look good (ok maybe a bit far). Anyway, it's the place you can go when you're so hungry you can't make up your mind what you want to eat. The place is casual, comfy and has quick counter service. There are a few outside tables, and a big tv always on sports. It's good for kids too.
The menu focuses on, er, chicken. My favorite is 1/4 white, With 2 sides. That means a 1/4 of a rotisserie roasted chicken (you can also get dark of even a half a chicken). each day in addition to their great regular sides, they have a few special sides. My favorite special side is the spicy Mac & cheese only on Saturdays, but their regular sides of Tico black beans (which keeps turning into Ticonderoga on my iPad -DYAC!!), cornbread stuffing, sautéed veggies and mashed sweet potatoes are also great. In fact, the mashed sweet potatoes taste like pumpkin pie. Mmm, pie...There are some sides I don't love as much, so just find what you like.
The menu also offers a couple entrees like chicken and rice, wraps (veggie wrap is good but is juicy so maybe ask to go light on the dressing or on the side) all for very reasonable prices. The 1/4 white plate is $6.80. It is equally friendly to the pocketbook and the stomach. The only problem? I don't live as close to Park & Woodlawn anymore, so it's not as convenient.
Bottom line: great place to get a solid meal for not much moolah when you're in your sweats.
