Located in the heart of Mississauga, Kariya Park is a serene green space featuring Japanese-inspired gardens, walkways & structures, and a duck pond :) The park is open to public 7 days a week from 7am to 9pm. I absolutely appreciate and respect those who take such great care of this park!
Two things that attracted me to visit Kariya Park:
1) The history behind this beautiful park; and
2) the amazingly breathtaking Cherry Blossom Trees!
1) The park was officially opened in July 1992, honouring the 11th anniversary of our twin-city relationship with Kariya City in Japan. According to the review by local Yelper, Matthew M., there is even a Mississauga Park in Kariya City, Japan! For the 20th anniversary in 2001, the highlight was the unveiling of the "Friendship Bell" to celebrate and to symbolize the everlasting friendship between City of Mississauga and City of Kariya :)
2) The best time to see the Cherry Blossom Trees would be during late April and early May, but it really depends on our crazy and unpredictable weather... the bloom last year was delayed due to the cold. Kariya Park is definitely less crowded compared to the busy High Park in Toronto. The park is well-maintained all year round; it is very nice to take a stroll during warmer seasons. I wish I could keep this park a secret ;)
P.S. Beware of the ducks lol. They are friendly and usually in pairs. But if you try to sneak up on one, the other will come out and bite yo ass. #justsaying
