| - While about 20% of my furniture may be IKEA (talking about bookshelves, garage tables, stuff like that), the stuff I use on a daily basis like the kitchen table, the bed, and living room furniture is all from Ashley. The vast majority of the furniture I've purchased from this store is going on 4 years now and I haven't had a problem out of any of it!
This HomeStore is a bit hidden. If you turn into the same shopping center as the Walgreens at WT Harris and Tryon, you're going to go back behind it around the FedEx, then back behind that to where you can see Le Kebab and Jimmy Johns, then behind THAT you'll see it at the bottom of the hill... Yeah, very obscured but they seem to have enough people to keep the doors open. The thing I like the most about this location versus others it that they'll offer you help, but if you just want to browse (as I'd wager most people are doing) they'll let you have some space. The Concord store just doesn't seem to get that. I used to live within walking distance to that store but I kept coming back here just to have some peace of mind, and not having to get asked 4 times a minute if they could help me with something. Customer service is one thing, but there's a very obvious, big, bold line where this turns into predatory salesmanship. Again, the main reason I like the University location.
Keep in mind that this is a showroom, not a warehouse. If you know you're going to be moving and need a new sofa for a loft or new dresser or whatever, you're going to need to decide on it a week or two beforehand. Nothing except some of the art and smaller accent pieces is actually picked up at the store, it's just sold here and delivered to you on a set day. You also have the option to pick it up at their distribution center in North Charlotte (think the Statesville Ave. area right off I-85) and of course you have to build it yourself if you're going that option.
Now that I'm fully settled in my new house and have everything where I want it, there's a lot of "white space" that needs things I never thought of. Like a buffet table in the dining area, a chair for a reading nook. More bookshelves than I ever thought was possible to own, and much more. Due to this stores great staff, I'll continue to find my way to this one for the no-pressure atmosphere. See you soon!
