| - Very convenient location in Indian Land, just south of the Charlotte metro area. Ballantyne and Blakney are two south Charlotte areas with Indian Land further south in SC. Naming it Ballantyne can cause confusion, but you will find it. Harrison Road is roughly parallel to Hwy 521.
This is a full-service gun range. From their web site, which describes it very well:
The Range is has 3 shooting bays. Bay 1 is a 25 yard, 5 lane, rifle rated bay, capable of handling rifle, pistol and shotgun. Rifle shooters can shoot up to a .338 Lapua. All calibers of handguns and revolvers, and shotgun either slug or Federal Flite control buck shot may be shot in these lanes. Standard down and back target carriers, utilizing Target hangers to keep our guests from incurring equipment damage fees.
Bay 2 is a 15 yard, 5 lane, pistol rated bay, allowing up to a 44 magnum. This bay allows handgun shooters to shoot at distances that are consistent with state law for personal protection outside the home.
Bay 3 is a 25 yard, 8 lane full tactical bay, utilizing the state of the art Mancom target system. These lanes are used for classes and for tactical and law enforcement training and law enforcement qualification, as well as for advanced shooters. These lanes are equipped with the ability to provide blue light, low light and no light shooting. These lanes also allow our guests to advance forward of the firing line for training under RSO supervision. As well as allowing qualified customers to draw from the holster. Check with our staff on how to use our advanced Mancom system.
It is a clean facility, you can rent a variety of weapons to try out, they sell ammunition and there is instruction available. Concealed carry classes are conducted and there are simulations that are run here.
The simulations are really fun. Some are actually ones that law enforcement uses and others, like the cowboy scenario and the zombie one are fun and funny. Must check with the range to set these up. Can have up to five people together to do a scenario.
Big rule is that only commercial ammo is allowed. No re-loaded ammunition. Targets can be purchased there or brought with you. The targets are hung from a hard foam pad which is part of the cable system. The target must be below this foam pad so as to not risk damage of the target system. If you shoot too high and puncture this hanger you will have to pay about $25 to replace it. Pay attention.
Everyone, experienced or not, must attend a short orientation session prior to being allowed on the range and sign hold harmless waiver. When you return you sign in and they have a record of your waiver and orientation attendance. This consists of a basic range safety video. If you are a novice or certainly first time shooter, bring an experienced hand or consult with the range staff and instructors.
Eye and ear protection is mandatory.
There is no membership fee, per se. It is pay as you go. Daily rates are:
$19/day for individual (Senior day is Tuesday for $10/day. Thursday is law enforcement and military active and retired day at $10/day) There are also instructor rates, simulation rental fees, gun cleaning services, rental lockers and life memberships.
