CAUTION. Sun City Awning installed a retractable awning over our patio in June 2009 at a cost of around $2600. Service was good. The awning had a device on it that was supposed to retract the awning if there was a high wind. We were very careful with the awning, always retracting it at night, and retracting it ourselves whenever we were to be away from home, and when high winds were forecast. Starting in November of each year we always retracted the awning and left it retracted until Spring as the sun was welcomed. In October 2014 we heard a loud pop coming from the awning. The winds were modest. Our Inspection of the awning revealed a rip in the fabric. SCA inspected the awning and found a broken arm. They claim it came from a high wind. Remember: the automatic retractor was supposed to retract the awning if the winds were high. There was no warranty and SCW presented us with an estimate to repair of $3,189. If this is all the awning will last, we cannot afford them.
