  • Terrible facility. Place is dirty and full of animal hair. Staff has been rude the majority of days I visited. The veterinarian in charge of my pet was not competent enough to recognize that my dog had glaucoma, so we went home thinking she scratched her eye somehow. Three months later, my dog was completely blind. We visit vets who know what their doing at Boca Park Animal Hospital. What a difference! By the way Travis, if I had any idea that my dog was at risk for going blind from a "scratch of the eye diagnosis," don't you think I would have brought her back in 2 weeks as recommended? The reality is your office is completely nonchalant with pet care and that attitude translates to owners. After performing a very expensive eye drop test, the vet did not recognize a glaucoma ulcer! My vet said my pet must have gotten a scratch on the eye even though I voiced my skepticism. The vet made me feel as though I had nothing to worry about and the scratch would heal just fine. How am I supposed to know how serious a scratch of the eye is? Wouldn't it have been nice if my vet followed up with a phone call to check on my dog after 2 weeks? Or wouldn't it have been nice if the receptionist told me I could schedule a free recheck before I left the office? Other veterinary offices such as Boca Park Animal Hospital spend quality time with their patients and make a point of following up. Mind you, after this dog was diagnosed with Glaucoma at the specialty center, Durango Animal Hospital continued to refill my dog's Atarax (hydroxyzine) prescription for allergies even though one of the side effects is increased blood pressure. Apparently that is not good for dogs with glaucoma, but who am I to know? It took another vet at another office to recognize the allergy medicine may conflict with the glaucoma medication and she took the time to contact my specialist. There is no follow up and a lack of experience at this office. Nobody wins in this situation Travis, and I'm still upset my pet went blind. Whether you agree or not, I believe I was wronged and you have done nothing to resolve the issue.
