| - So I went to stay here awhile back because they have Jacuzzi rooms and I was planning something for a stressed out friend of mine.
Well the heater unit in the room caught on FIRE at the wall. Flames reached up to the curtains and blackened them. I ran to the front desk and asked them to cut the fuse because there are smoke and flames in my room. They stared at me, blank stare, and said "I dont know where the fuse for that specific room is, they aren't labeled!" as if in a panic.
We go to the room, sparks shooting from the wall, and one employee is in my room calling the owner and another is trying to find the fuse for the room in the fuse box. I said "Just go and unplug it, pull the cord out before this whole place goes up in flames!!" At this point Im hauling all my stuff out of the room and by the closest exit, snow outside and its freezing. She, the front desk associate, stands there still just keeps calling the owner... not the police, fire, the owner...
While this circus is going on, I go over to the wall inbetween flames and yank the cord out, the fire stops... but now there is smoke in the hallway.
Im standing there, and they are all busy filling in the owner and I have to ASK for a new room... I said I don't think I should be charged and they said "we can't do that" I said why, I just had my room lit on fire and I just saved your building because you were too afraid to act or cut the power. "Well you have to write a letter to the owner for credit, but I can't give that to you"
Needless to say I was furious. God forbid this stuff happen when I was sleeping, no fire alarm went off the entire incident... Then again if you want to die in a fiery blaze, maybe you will be as lucky as me and get that wish...
The wiring here is obviously not installed properly. I assume they wired window heater/AC units to regular sockets that are not suppoed to handle the loads probably by some cheap contractor they didnt check on. I can only imagine/speculate on this one...
