I love craft beer! Imagine my excitement when, while planning a self guided history tour of Waxhaw, I discovered a brewery!
While I would not make a trip to Waxhaw for the brewery alone, I will visit anytime I am in the area. The brewery is located in the former site of the Waxhaw Volunteer Fire Department, and the owners did a wonderful job of using the original structure to their advantage. It seems that they changed as little as possible including leaving the glass garage doors.
As for the beer: Our first round was a TJ, which is brewed with molasses, and a Jalapeno Cream ale. The TJ was very easy to drink but lacked the strong molasses flavor I was looking for. However, the Jalapeno Cream ale is a true gem! As someone who does not enjoy Cream Ale, that is saying a lot! For our second round, I got a stout (I can't remember the name) and she ended up going with a guest tap.
The ambiance was a larger sell to me than the beer itself, but we will definitely come back should we find ourselves in Waxhaw again.
