This one is LOOONG overdue given how many times I've frequented Wren House and it's about time to give them their dues.
I first found Wren House while setting up our third Brews Cruise UYE meet up and ever since then I can't help but stop in anytime we're in the area. With 8 taps going at a time, there is always something to drink anytime we come in.
Of their regular of beers, my go-tos are their Wren house Kolsch, Jomax Oatmeal Stout, and Black Caddis Porter. The Kolsch is very light and flavorful, making it a good go to for any light beer lovers. The Black Caddis Porter is fairly strong tasting but enjoyable if porters are your thing.
The Jomax is by far my favorite of their typical brews. A smooth oatmeal stout with a hit of the in house cold brew coffee. I would drink this for days if I could. Plus if you're not big on beer or are playing DD that night, you can skip the beer and have just the cold brew which is great on it's own. Not too strong and pleasant to drink while glaring at other patrons enviously.
My other favorite only comes out in Winter: The Chai Jolly. A dark honey wheat ale with a hit of chai spice. A perfect blend of malts, honey, and spice that tastes great on a cold winter night. Or if you want to knock back a whole growler of beer in one night to ring in the new year.
The staff is always incredibly friendly and the beers are extremely affordable at $5 a pint for most brews or $8 for a box of samples. The atmosphere is very chill making it a perfect meeting spot for groups big and small. Since our first experience with them we have come back repeatedly, even making an annual "Cookies and Beer" meet-up as part of the Brews Cruise whih has ben a blast every time.
