Cleveland's craft brew scene just took another step forward. We stopped into Brick & Barrel after Sunday brunch at a W.25th Street brew pub. We were looking for something different and this place fit the bill. Just an honest brewery here. A converted garage space just north of the (still closed) Columbus Street bridge. Don't let that stop you...it is just around the corner from Merwin's, another new place to grab some riverside food and drink. The beers are definitely worth the trip. The IPA is assertive and full bodied and the smoked beer is really pretty drinkable, not overdone with the smoke flavor. Plus a lot of new beers are coming soon, even some wine barrel aged offerings. The tasting room is small with only a short bar and only two tables seating 6-8. No food here, but a great place to seek out after eating at Merwin's, Hooples, or other places up the hill.
