| - Never heard of this place, have you? Never seen it even though you've likely walked right by it in the trendy area of Tremont which hosts Dante/Ginko, Press, Lolita?
Had we not noticed the sandwich board out front promising '$2 beer. yeah!', we'd have most likely walked right by too.
After walking out of Ginko after dropping almost a Benjamin, we were thinking of heading over to Press for some more cocktails and having a completely swanky evening out. But......then we saw that sign beckoning us inside of a shabby looking building on the corner of Professor and Literary. Hey the Tribe game was still on so my inner Sconnie took over and 'what the hell', so in we went.
Some will tell you about dive bars. Go to this place. It's not trying to be a dive bar, its barely trying to be a bar at all. Its like somebody opened their front door and said, 'hey I got some beers in the fridge wanna hang out?'. There is a juke box, a pool table and a dart board. Bathrooms are clean. Beers are cold. People are very friendly - this spot hasn't been overrun by hipsters, at least from what we saw. What else ya want? Stop in for a cold one next time you're in the neighborhood.
Words to the wise:
1. Cash only
2. If you show up there 3 times, you'll have to buy a 'social membership' to the club. I asked how much this was thinking it would be kind of the 'catch' to an otherwise cool spot. Um......$10 for January thru December. Hahaha. Totally worth it since you'll save that in 1 night drinking $2 beers.
Definitely check it out when you're in for a low-key time.
