After learning that there is no Maple Leaf Lounge past customs at the Calgary Airport I decided to give the Rocky Mountain Lounge a try. I had a lot of time to kill so I figured by the time I buy dinner, and a drink at one of the airport restaurants the price would be similar. Plus I would have the added benefit of a quiet atmosphere.
I was right on the quiet part. There were only a few people in the lounge so there was plenty of comfy sitting room.
However, I was wrong on the food part. They had a very limited selection of foods of sustenance. They had potato bacon soup, which was ok, and some wraps and sandwiches. The sandwiches looked and tasted similar to a pulled pork - but I am not exactly sure. They also had some fresh fruits and veggies - which did not appear fresh at all. The only dip they had to accompany the veggies was packaged Kraft ranch dressing. Overall, the food was disappointing.
On the positive side they did have a large assortment of snack items including chips, pretzels, nuts, and cookies. As well as an assortment of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Overall the $36 cost is probably worth it if you value quiet, and will be there long enough to take advantage of the drinks and snacks. But if you are looking for a quality meal, this is not the place. If you are an American Express card holder (as well as some other cards/clubs) entry is complimentary.
