  • We ate at both restaurants and had great experiences with some qualifications. They are not really that different, but I will explain and compare each. We went to the Wicked Spoon at 8pm. The cashier warned us that they cleared the food at 9:15 and there was a 45 minute wait. There were about 10 people in line, so I was confused as to the wait. We decided to try, and were seating within 10 minutes. Not really sure why the cashier seemed to be convincing us not to stay. At least four others told us at varying times that the buffet would close at 9:15, and sure enough, it did. What was really irritating was that around 8:45 things started emptying and not being replenished. I paid about $40 for my dinner and expected the food to be replenished until it was time to clear. When I went for dessert, four dishes in a row were completely gone, empty serving trays. It was embarrassing and unacceptable. There were no plates to be found after 8:45 and I had to ask someone to get me a plate. They seemed like they were in a big rush to close up. It's Vegas for heaven's sake. 9pm closing seems odd. With that said, the food was great. As many posters have indicated, they plate a lot of their food and that actually was cumbersome. It was difficult to take a bowl of this and a basket of that and balance it all on the way back to the table. It looked OK, but really served little purpose. The salads were excellent, the selection was plentiful. The hot food was the best. They had a gnocci in cream sauce that made my head spin it was so good. Other highlights were the spicy shrimp and grits, the amazing chicken wings, several varieties of sausage, and on and on. Most of the dishes I tried were so incredibly delicious, full of flavor that lingered long after the last swallow. Some things were unexciting, especially the chinese menu. That was downright terrible. The desserts were good, but I would have liked to have tried more, but they were gone. I didn't try the ice cream but the selection was extensive and hand-dipped by a server. There was an amazing carrot cake, great oatmeal cookies, a dulce de lece parfait that was heaven. All in all, I liked the buffet, the ambience, but they need to serve their guests until they are finished dining and not rush them to finish and go away. We went to the Wynn early and there was no wait at all. the price was about the same, the room was beautiful but I found the food to be mediocre. There seemed to be fewer selections, but like the Wicken spoon, they had crab legs and shrimp. There were some really delicious dishes, like the pesto, three make your own salads. the one I tried was delicious with to die for candied pecans to top it off. They had amazing barbeque buns and other dim sum, but most of the food was unexceptional and I felt the Wicked Spoon was a better meal. However, Wynn definitely won in the dessert category. Amazing desserts, everyone more delicious than the one before. They had limited ice cream flavors, unlike the extensive selection at the Wicked spoon. If I had to go to only one, I would go to the Wicked spoon. If I went to two buffets I would choose the Wicked Spoon and Bellagio.
