| - First off...dr McCormick is amazing and is the only reason I have dealt with the awfulness of this banfield and the wellness plan, but not even she can save it at this point.
I have had a wellness plan for 8-10 years with 2 dogs. It is the most pointless thing in the world if you need any kind of vet services that you can't schedule out 2-3 weeks in advance. I have more than once needed the services, banfield is my primary veterinarian, and been told sorry they can't make me an appointment. My dog was stung by a bee and her face had swelled and they literally told me that she could die and she needs to see a vet but they couldn't help me. WHY AM I PAYING $40 A MONTH??? A dog doctor can't see a dog when they are sick? They only take healthy pets????
So tonight is the last straw. My dog has an ear infection, bright red, full of gunk, smelly, the whole 9 yards. She is a golden retriever that loves to swim, I'm surprised it hasn't happened earlier. So this is not an emergency, she is just uncomfortable and her ear itches and I know there is no way I am getting her into the vet anytime soon so I go to get her some ear medicine. While I am at PetSmart I figure why not stop by banfield and see if they can give me a suggestion of what to get. I am not trying to get a prescription or see a doctor, just a suggestion of what a good product would be to help her out. They REFUSED to give me any suggestions at all. So now I am paying $40 a month, I can't see a vet, and they can't even give me a suggestion for an over the counter product. What kind of crap is that? They tell me I have to ask a teenage PetSmart employee, which they are nice and all, but they have no medical training at all and I have no confidence in their ability to accurately tell me what a good product is, that's what I have a vet for.
I'm over it banfield. My dog deserves so much better than the service banfield (dr McCormick excluded) has given her. So tomorrow when you open, I am going to see how much it will cost to cancel my plan because I'm over this. I need a vet I can trust.
Anyone that reads this...if you thinking about getting a wellness plan...DON'T. Other than the fact that your shots are covered it is completely pointless. You are going to have to have a 2nd vet anyways to help you when your dog is actually sick.
