Sadly this restaurant did not live up to the expectation set by the original.
We went last weekend with a couple of out of town friends and everything started off well. I had called ahead to make sure if there was a wait it was reasonable and when we showed up we were taken straight to a table. Great since we were starving! Almost immediately we put an order in for the cheese fries with brisket. The fries came out after we had ordered our mains and several of the fries were burnt.
Moving on to our mains I had ordered the big plate of lean brisket and a friend had ordered the half lean half fatty. When the waiter was handing me my plate I asked to verify that he was handing me the lean and not the mix (since my friend and I had the same sides). He said it looked like the mix so my friend and I swapped plates. Halfway through the meal we realized it was right the first time so we traded strips of lean and fatty. However I wasn't super invested in getting any more brisket since the strips I already had were dry and unimpressive. The brisket at the original location is one of my favorite meals in Charlotte.
Overall it was a fine experience but as other reviewers have mentioned it felt more like a chain than a delicious and authentic NC BBQ joint.
