This was my first Yelp Elite Event ever, and WHAT an event. Thank you SO much Kris for planning this. Ricky is so passionate about what he does and you can totally feel it in the vibe of the restaurant.
Azyun is such a hidden gem (for now). I love that it's on Main st., it really stands out compared to the other restaurants in the area. Everything about it just feels so exclusive and cool. The restaurant is so cozy inside and the staff is incredibly friendly; it makes you feel welcome to come as a regular.
Oh man. The second I got the lychee & prosecco drink I knew I was in for a night. I loved every bite. The tuna and avocado rice toast? HOW HAVE I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT. The 24 hour sous vide pork skewers? I'm so surprised that such a new place is so dedicated to their food that they sous vide it for 24 hours! They literally melted in my mouth. Prawn toast? Yes please!! I love that the nuoc cham sauce was light and didn't overpower the toast. And the truffle fried rice? It packed way more flavour than I thought mushrooms could.
I also can't even begin to explain how good the fried chicken mantou was. PLEASE PUT THAT ON YOUR REGULAR MENU. One of my coworkers actually tried AZYUN last week and was so jealous that we got fried chicken instead of the regular pork belly.
Also HUGE thanks to Victoria from Muskoka brewery for showing us all these cool drinks and pairing them for us. I would've never imagined that beer could be paired so differently just in one meal.
