| - Went on a Friday night around 7-9pm. First, managed to find parking in the parking lot attached to the Distillery District, and paid the exorbitant $$$, at $1.45 per half hour (WHAT!). After that, we wandered around to gawk at the ginormous Christmas tree, look at the vendors selling gimmicky, overly Christmas-ed items (can you say Christmas themed potholders?) and arrived in a little nook of alcohol tastings.
Fantastic.
Everything was free, so we got hot apple cider with whiskey, rosehip tea with gin, some concoction with rum and pineapple? All hot drinks, all delish. But the most thrilling was the Glenfiddich stand, where we managed to squeeze into the last serving group. We got 15 minutes of a professional, educational "talking to" about Glenfiddich, and got GENEROUS tastings of the 12 year, newly produced 14 year and 15 year. These are premium tastings, and between the bf and I, we must have consumed about $80 worth of Glennie! So after this little whirlwind of tastings, we were jolly buzzed and all warm inside!
Then we moved on to get poutine from another festive stand. MEH! at $6, I expected more than a little cup of average poutine. But THEN, we moved on to the turkey leg ($12). This leg....oh my goodness...think cartoon drumstick. The bf and I wolfed one down, and relished in the perfect mix of fat and lean meat, and tasting a bit like holiday ham. And then we were full.
So for $20, and for $xxxxx spent on parking, it was actually a fun night out! Plenty of free tastings and that LEG! Good times!
