| - I was introduced to Windsor Arm Hotel Tea Room by a good friend who suggested to get a deal from Groupon for 2. It was our mistake of not paying attention on the redemption dates that only vaild from Monday - Friday. Because of our work, the voucher expiring did not suprise anyone. This is written on the voucher " The amount paid for this voucher ($64.00) with Windsor Arms Hotel Tea Room NEVER EXPIRES. The promotional value expires August 31, 2014."
After half year, I finally came across a day off on a weekday that I could visit the Tea Room and use the "paid amount" as a little treat to myself. So I called Windsor Arm before my 37mins traveling to Downtown Toronto. The host (whoever) answered my call was clearly told me that I could use the "paid amount" toward my order. Therefore I made a reservation for 1 person in an hour. After I arrived, service was good, food is average - I found their food is overrated. If I really have to pick from that tier, caramel mousse chocolate cup is the only suprise that I had besides the non sense bill that I got later after the tea.
Just a simple question, if the table and food only served one person for the longest time, how could that person got charged of 2 sets of afternoon tea? The waiter explained that he is new... it doesn't mean you are allow to send a nonsense bill to the table and explain to the customer that you are new. So taking from there, Windsor Arm insisted that I have to walked out with 2 afternoon tea because of the deal that I purchased (refer to the rules that I cut and pasted above, it didn't say anything that I have to use the $64 on the deal that I purchased). They offered me 2 options: 1) having a set of tea and sandwiches to-go. 2) Pay full amount today $38 and use the "paid amount" next time with a friend during the weekdays. It sounds like a choice....but wait a second, if someone didn't tell me I can use the "paid amount" toward my order-to-be, I probably wouldn't go that far. FIRSTLY, I will not spend my valuable Friday afternoon with a "just ok" sandwiches, 1.5 hour traveling because the traffic at 5pm, $15 parking and a 20 mins on Yelp about today's happening.
In short, their food is overrated, my tea pot and cup are not English either, it is the same as the Chinese dim sum place. The service there is not professional enough as a 4 stars hotel at the core of Toronto downtown. I hope you guys will do better.
