| - It was a Sunday afternoon and some friends insisted on visiting the Deuce since I haven't been there before. We made the trek across town and showed up to what appeared to be a large hangar on the outskirts of downtown. I didn't know exactly what to expect, as my friends had given me an eclectic array of things that happened there.
Little did I know that they were right.
We walked in after the Valet took the car, and I took a look around. The high rafters of this place made it quite spacious, the decor was a bit of everything. There is a boxing ring for fight nights, some trendy distressed looking stuff and a place to purchase their Tee shirts, which have some smart quotes and sayings on them.
We wandered around the corner, and Lo! A bar!... But it was Sunday and we needed food before beverages. In the courtyard is a food truck, and we ordered Ribs, sliders and some other stuff. The Ribs were delicious, the Barbecue sauce was sweet and tasty. The sliders were not as good, but they were still tasty. To finish lunch off we had some mixed cocktails.
I enjoy a good bloody mary, so I ordered one, knowing the ingredients were all fresh and 'wholesome', but it lacked a bit of spice for me. Thinking I had the solution, I added a few drops of the hot sauce to it, only to discover I way overcompensated.
I would definitely recommend this place to bring some friends and have lunch, but I've also heard great things about this place once the sun goes down. It turns into more of a party venue, and they have boxing and burlesque on select nights, and from my friends' stories, it's an awesome time!
