  • Liked this a lot. It was way crowded though!! That's my worse comment Okay other than that, everything else was great. Now, it's inexpensive to go (under 25.00) but you have to be warned. Take lots of singles and 5 dollar bills if you are very generous to pay the show people. They don't get paid. They do this FREE and some make their living at entertaining you. Don Juan and Miguel were hilarious. There were three of us and we put in only 3.00 because I figured if there were other shows, it'd be expensive putting in 5 for each. There were a LOT of shows. So depends on how many you see. Some we didn't put any in (sorry guys) but we watched just a few min and had to go for one reason or another. NO show was bad though. ALL were good. Shows were mostly comedies, juggling, sword fighting or swallowing, fire eating. All in costume. On the jousting, get there an hour early for seating. Recommend you get your seat, save them and have a runner go get your food and eat in the stands before the show. There was a guy selling pennants for 5.00 each but I think out of a thousand people watching, three people might have bought one. That's how he gets paid though!!! Poor guy. He was funny as anything though! I took a poll in the audience. 3.00 was the max people were willing to spend and at 1-2 dollars, a BUNCH of people would've bought them. Guessing they cost a dollar in materials and his time. So assuming he can sell for 2-3 and tell the people that's how he does his living and he has to spend time making. Sure more would've bought. The people there are some of the funniest and most animated of anywhere. Moreso than Comic Con or other conventions and other festivals (and we are the masters of festivals and conventions). Every person was eager to talk with you and sign anything free... you could buy videos, CD's or at the joust, even a broken lance or shield for a few dollars and they'd sign it. There was a petting farm. Free. 2.00 for feed which is gone in two seconds... small Dixie cups. So buy a couple. Goats, alpacas, cows, sheep ... They had hand sanitizer after. They had face painting (expensive), hair braiding, and I think a tattoo guy and shopping... we bought a hat (looks a bit like Amish/Indiana Jones kind of a leather cross). They can customize the cord on it. Cost 45.00. I bought some stones (15 for a polar bear made of white stone) and a pyramid... and a small dolphin made out of some sort of agate for 5.00. They had crystals and jewelry everywhere, costumes to buy/rent, leather goods, replica swords, a lot of crowns for little girls, plastic toys for kids. They had a lot of candles. Some garden pottery (expensive so really indoors I'd think) and some glass stuff that was gorgeous. You can't really get much in the way of T shirts here. One store on the way out had some but poor selection. Cheap carnavalesque games to play (throw ninja stars, an axe, baseballs, darts, do archery). Cost is 1-2 dollars usually but do NOT do it for prize. Prizes were chintziest in the world. Like a plastic bug or a dollar store prize. My hubby and son did love the archery and crossbows. 15 arrows for 3.00. There were a lot of these games (pop the balloon, flip a frog etc). Bathrooms are porta potties only. Not the best scenario. Can you say HOLDING it?! Parking free. Great fun. Best part is the shows and the people in costume and I found more people in costume here than at most conventions. Lastly, I've been to the renaissance festival in PA. This one is LARGER. You can do it in a day, but if you want to do all the shows, you'd need to go back at least three times. There's too many shows! But that's a good thing.
