| - Everyone knows Vegas is the 9th island and with that, comes the island style grub cravings to be satisfied. I used to frequent 808 about 2-3 years ago. Unfortunately I never got a chance to leave any reviews. Most recently though, my family and I came in for lunch on Friday and the food just wasn't the same. I raved to the hubby about how delicious the garlic chicken was. But it was soggy when I finally had my first bite. Total disappointment. I got a bento (totally forgot the catchy name of it) that included garlic chicken, fried saimin, a scoop of white rice, 1 slice of fried spam and beef teriyaki pieces. My sis and I shared that bento and some ahi poke from next door (review to follow). My hubby got a plate of kalua pig and cabbage that included 2 schools of white rice and a scoop of mac salad. He totally devoured as much as he could with a third of kalua and a scoop of rice to spare. We washed everything down with some Hawaiian Sun. They had quite a selection to choose from. Going back to my bento, everything else was alright, not good, not bad. Hubby said if he weren't so hungry, he probably wouldn't have eaten as much. He thought it was more on the dry side, but had good salty and smoke flavor. I totally agreed with his comment. The women working the counters and bringing food out are absolute sweethearts and explained all my millions of questions regarding what was included in the bentos, packs and plates. The menu has also changed quite significantly since I was here a couple years ago.
