This was easily one of the best meals I've had - the service was outstanding and the flavours and textures of everything were spot on. They were so accommodating of my need for gluten free. And I was certainly not limited on what I could eat. We sat at the bar and had reservations for 6:45. We arrived just before our reservation and were seated promptly. The service was excellent - food runners, bar tender, host. They have the restaurant run as an art.
My husband and I shared 4 different dishes then ice cream for dessert.
Endive salad with apples, pecans and blue cheese - light and tart.
Smoked sturgeon cubes with creams fraise, chives and caviar - wow wow wow.
Salmon with Nordic shrimp, chorizo vinegrette and a cucumber, dill and red onion salad. The salmon was a pacific wild salmon, cooked perfectly. The heat of the chorizo complimented the tart acidity of the cucumber salad that complimented the richness of the salmon and shrimp. Taking a forkful of every element of the dish gave the perfectly balanced palate.
Pork tenderloin with mushrooms, jus and a smoked cheese and jalapeƱo grit. This dish was all rich but it worked. The smoky spicy flavour of the grits with the perfectly cooked pork had my husband declaring that this was his favourite meal and favourite restaurant.
We finished it up with a scoop of the blueberry vanilla ice cream - made in house and an excellent palate cleanser and end to the dinner.
