| - After walking by several times, I am finally convinced that the reason you'd come here is for the view and not much else. The Peculiar Rabbit has an awesome location in Plaza Midwood but beyond that nothing drew me into to love this establishment.
My sister was here from out of town, and we decided to get brunch. With $16 for an unlimited buffet, it sounded like a great pick. My sister and my fiance, opted for the buffet and we're a little disappointed. When getting the buffet option, you can order eggs, bacon or sausage with your waiter and they will bring them out for you. Unlimited buffet, but with limited options. Almost everything had meat in it for us vegetarians (minus the bread options, which I don't need to carbo load) and they did make a strong effort to have offerings of cheese grits, scalloped potatoes and a vegetarian gravy for biscuits, but this gravy is made with mushrooms and I am not the biggest fan of mushrooms.
With my options being limited, I went off the menu and ordered the crab cake eggs benedict with the hollandaise on the side. Solid choice, a little salty, but I can manage. One thing I thought was strange was the side salad. This little salad consisted of 3 greens and no dressing or anything else. Why was it even on the plate?
As a non-beer drinker, living in North Carolina is hard. A lot of restaurants or bars only offer one cider on draft. When I saw The Peculiar Rabbit had Strongbow on draft, I jumped at the opportunity. Well, the waiter came back and informed me it was flavored: cherry or orange. I've never heard of flavored Strongbow but went with the cherry. Naturally, they didn't have it, so I got the orange. Now, let's revisit, this was on draft, but it came in a bottle. It's listed on both menus as a draft so unsure why it came like this and I had mentioned that to our waiter as well. Be warned that if you're looking for a cider this is not the place to come. I wonder if there is a Strongbow on tap and the server just didn't know.
Awesome outdoor seating, and yes, it's dog-friendly.
