  • PLEASE READ THIS. ZERO STARS! I don't understand how this place is still in business!!!!! I happened to be at Northland Mall last night at a cell phone repair shop. While I was waiting for my phone outside of the shop, what I witnessed disgusted me. The verbal, emotional and threat of physical abuse of a 17 year old girl who was respectfully asking for a refund from Happy Choice Nails after receiving a terrible pedicure job. I could not stand to watch her bullied and intimidated by not only the staff (who changed their story several times about the manager not being there or even in town, not having any cash to refund her with or simply ignoring her) but also by what I can only describe as delusional clientele who told her that because of her age she didn't understand business and should just drop it. One customer got up, got in this girls face and belittled her when she said that she has a job and does understand customer service. The customer told her that she was not getting a refund and to "get over it". She told her that she was disrupting her "relaxing manicure". She claimed to be a lawyer which I certainly hope wasn't the case as she was rude, condescending and threatening. Another woman told the girl to "go and fight for world peace" -huh? One of the staff did say that they would redo her nails however since they cut her nails too short and unevenly the first time and applied a polish job that a 5 yr. old wouldn't be proud of, she declined and rightly so. The girl told them repeatedly that she wasn't interested in having the job redone there. One of their loyal, ignorant customers told her that "it wasn't their (Happy Choice's) fault that she picked bad nail polish". WHAT????? Several of the clientele had the nerve to tell this girl that she had no right to a refund. The young lady asked them to show her the policy if they had one that stated "no refunds" . Of course that request was denied. Instead she was told to shut up and leave and when I came to her defense stating that she had every right, I was also told to "shut up" and that it was "none of my business", to get out (even though I wasn't in the salon). I cannot imagine what else would have been said or done had someone not seen what was happening and stood beside this young girl who by the way was polite, articulate and intelligent, did not raise her voice or use swear words. Had we not had security come.....that's right........despite several requests by myself and the girl to call security when the customers started verbally ganging up on us, the nail salon did not call them. While I was looking for security, this most vocal of the customers (the lawyer) threatened physical violence if the girl did not leave. Sadly, security is a joke anyway. Although empathetic, mall security was powerless to do anything and advised that we could call the police and the BBB. If anyone who was there tonight reads this, I hope you are proud of yourselves for intimidating a 17 year old to the point of tears and teaching her that she is powerless. One woman told her to "just let them redo it and then never come back". I guess since she was happy no one else has the right to complain or stand up for themselves. What a wonderful message to send our young people. If you frequent this business you are condoning this behavior. If you defended this business tonight, you should be ashamed. If it had been your daughter that was subjected to that gross mistreatment, I think you would feel differently. Sad that doing the right thing leaves you feeling helpless, abused, threatened and taken advantage of. Way to go Happy Choice Nails and your amazing patrons! Pillars of Society.............NOT!
