| - We went to NOLA on a Friday night when we had tickets to a show in the cultural district. I had the crispy alligator bites to start, and the jambalaya for my meal. The aioli on the alligator was excellent - I was eating the crunchy fried bits that came off of the meat just to scoop up the sauce. The jambalaya had an excellent taste. As someone who has been to New Orleans, I can safely say that it tasted _nothing_ like actual New Orleans jambalaya, so if you are looking for authentic creole, you will be disappointed. The jambalaya was very tomatoey, and not nearly as spicey as I expected. And, there were just 2 pieces each of shrimp and scallop on the top, and none mixed in with the rice. However, although I would not characterize it as authentic, it was still delicious. The blackened chicken and spicy sausage that was mixed in with the rice was really good. I would eat here again, and if I did, I would probably get the jambalaya again (again, the food tasted very good, as long as you don't expect authentic). On a side note, I mentioned to the server that we couldn't linger too long, because we had theatre tickets, and he told us that if we could show him the tickets, we could get a 15% discount. So that was a nice bonus, and if you come before a show, be sure to bring your tickets with you.
