We used Aff. Insp. for a home we purchased recently. A few minor items were noted that the sellers agreed to fix. As soon as we moved in we saw that although the home had gas service and a garage that connected directly into the house there was no carbon monoxide detector. Although carbon monoxide alarms are not required for existing homes, it should have been STRONGLY recommend by the inspector. I don't know if any inspectors check for this, but they should. Most of the smoke detectors where not working. My main concern was the safety issue.
After contacting AF/I, the owner assured me he would do whatever it would take the make this right. I told him that I wanted to make sure that this did not happen to anyone else, with what could be serious consequences. I think he realized what could have happened and has take immediate steps to make sure this does not occur again. I was impressed by his determination to correct this oversight and improve his service. I don't think this will ever happen again with any of his inspectors, most of whom seem to get excellent reviews.
