I was ecstatic seeing a brand new Gong Cha opening in the same building as my yoga studio. Since it was still BOGO period, I ordered 2 drinks ... milk foam winter melon tea and Royal milk tea.
It was amusing watching the barista prepare my drinks. For the milk foam winter melon tea, he poured way too much tea into the cup which was impossible to accommodate any milk foam to sit on top. The foam just started overflowing the cup and the barista had to grab a towel to wipe all around the edges. It started to become unbearable watching him wipe and wipe, and refusing to give up. The more he wiped, the more it poured. It took him a long time to realize the drink could not be saved, and he would just have to make a new one.
As for the Royal milk tea, it literally tasted like burnt milk tea. I'm pretty sure that was not the intention. Tapioca tasted chewy and fresh though.
Much improvement is needed at this location. Luckily, there is another Gong Cha just a 10 min drive....
