  • I popped into Sunnyside Market yesterday and remembered how much I enjoyed shopping there when I lived downtown. In essence, it's a teeny-tiny "health food" store with everything from fresh produce to instant noodles to bulk foods to nutritional supplements. There are a couple of things I always buy here when I'm in the area: - Que Pasa corn tortillas (in the freezer). I live alone and can't eat a package of fresh corn tortillas before they go bad, so Que Pasa's frozen ones are a not-too-distant second-best. - Bulk foods! Great selection of dried beans and lentils, nuts (in the fridges- right on!) and sweet treats like cereals and snack mixes... at the right price. - Fresh herbs sources as locally as possible- they had fresh chocolate mint yesterday, as well as huge packages of delish-looking basil (pesto, here I come!). - Flax oil for a little health kick in my morning smoothies. The staff here have always been very helpful (I can't count the number of times they've gone in the back looking for banana chips for me!) and the store is very eco-minded (bring your own bags, powered by Bullfrog, etc.). While prices may be slightly higher than at Community Natural Foods, they're infinitely lower than at Amaranth AND Sunnyside Market is right beside the C-Train! That's the price of green convenience!
