| - I hesitate even giving this place two stars. I've been to the Peculiar Rabbit at least five times. It's easy to get in when the other restaurants are packed, and they have a great outdoor space, so it ends up being at the default restaurant to go to Plaza Midwood.
First off, why does a fully stocked bar not have a cocktail menu??? I know they used to have one at some point. I ended up with a beer instead, which was ok.
I do like the menu, but the food never tastes as good as it sounds. Last night I got the lamb pita and it was pretty bad. The meat was so dry, served room temperature to slightly cold (although the pita was nice and hot), and didn't have anything inside except two cucumbers and a small piece of fig. My boyfriend ordered steak with a garlic mash. Steak was cooked pretty well, but the garlic mash was so strong that I couldn't even eat it (and this comes from a girl that cooks with a TON of garlic).
Service was incredibly slow. I really don't understand why it took 45min to get our food, and we never really saw our waitress. This seems to be the theme almost ever time I've gone to Peculiar Rabbit.
I would recommend this place if you're going with a group of friends just to have a few drinks and apps (and you only need to see the waitress about every 30min to order another drink). Otherwise, there are other places around Plaza where you can get a good meal, like Fuel Pizza, which was where I went afterwards to get a slice since I was hungry.
