  • It's hot, folks. And kudos to the crew who are dishing out the snow cones at Purple Penguin. Sure, they work with ice all day and maybe they have A/C in their little trailer, but it's still hot in hurr. I ventured over to this location on my lunch break yesterday and ordered up a $3.50 medium cone with Tiger's Blood, banana, and blue raspberry. I wanted a cone that was kinda rainbow-ish looking. First I ordered mango, but the friendly staff member who took my order, Bree, said that mango wouldn't work too well and to get banana instead: done. There were a few people ahead of me sweltering in the heat at 1:00pm, mostly teens on summer break. Unfortunately there is really no shade anywhere so you all just have to stand in the sun until your order is ready. For a return visit, I'll go back when it's later in the day and the sun isn't beating right down on me. On the other hand, the snow cone was refreshing and I liked the combo of coconut (from the Tiger's Blood) and banana flavors: quite tropical! You can ask for a stamp card so that your 11th cone is free. There are lots of other flavors and combinations to choose from so I will definitely be back.
