| - I've never been to Butter Avenue previously, since their uptown location is a little out of the way for me, but I've been dying to check it out, so of course I had to visit their new Queen West location. When I first came in, I thought the place looked really small, but apparently there is seating downstairs. I came on a Friday night, so perhaps their selection then was a little more limited that it would normally be during the day. However, I thought they still had a decent selection of flavours, and a lot of them were really unique and interesting! I ended up getting 6 macarons to go for $14: lychee raspberry, strawberry white chocolate, earl grey, matcha, pistachio wild cherry, and salted caramel. The macarons are $2.25 per piece, so that is just a little bit cheaper than Nadege. The macarons I have tried so far have all been delicious - the texture is perfect, as they are very light, soft, fluffy, slightly chewy in that way they should be, and they are not too sweet. Even two days later, the macarons are still pretty soft and still taste decently fresh! Some of the macarons i.e. the strawberry white chocolate even have like extra stuff in the filling, kind of like jam...? But it works, and is delicious!
There were two people working there when I went, and they were both so, so nice. Had a really great experience talking to them. Also, the packaging they have is super cute and unique, I love that there are slots for each macaron so they won't roll around and hit each other - genius. I can definitely see myself returning, especially to try some of their other desserts i.e. tarts and mousse cakes!
