Came here for the 1st time last weekend with a party of 18 girlfriends and we had a truly fab dinner at Baby Kay's.
Firstly, the staff was wonderful and accommodating- a terrific bunch of people who provided great service to us.
Secondly, the music was great! There was an older gentleman playing some nice grooves on his guitar and we thoroughly enjoyed him!
As for the food? It was really good. I'm not well versed in Cajun food and this was really my first time eating it. I was impressed!
I had a hankering for fish that unfortunately had to go unsatisfied because the only fish they have on the menu here is catfish. Ugh. I am just not a fan of catfish at all! So instead, I ordered the shrimp po'boy sandwich with fries and a side of shrimp etoufee. I didn't eat the "sandwich" portion of the po'boy because they served it plain on a dry hoagie bun with only lettuce and tomato on the side. I'm trying to be "selective" with my carbs and it just wasn't appetizing enough for me to cheat. Instead, I ate the fried shrimp off the bun and found it to be delicious! Well-seasoned and cooked perfectly! The French fries were also very tasty. I hadn't ever eaten etoufee before, but I was pleasantly surprised! It was uniquely flavorful and scrumptious! I would have preferred more finely chopped onions (there were big onion hunks in this stuff), but other than that I really enjoyed it.
If Baby Kay's was closer to my neck of the woods, I'd be more likely to be a repeat customer because there were a lot of things on their menu I'd have loved to try. I'm not in the East Valley much but if I'm ever in the vicinity, Baby Kay's would be high on my list to go again!
