| - The location of this kennel is right in the middle of an industrial zone - so it tends to have a lot of big truck traffic, noise.
This is one of the few areas I know of in the valley that has a shaded somewhat grassy play area for the pooches. The actual kennel is pretty cramped looking - from office to the actual kennels in the facility. The owner only allows 1 customer in at a time, and will actually have the door locked once a customer is inside. If no one is at the front desk, the door is locked, and you have to ring a doorbell to gain access in. The runs are very narrow and is concrete based (most kennels are) with no drain really in case they piddle on the floor when in their kennels. So if they piddle on the floor - and don't have any bedding (sometimes bedding gets removed if the dogs are attacking it too much) - yup they are walking in it or sleeping in it. YUCK!
Rules are pretty strict as to bringing pets personal belongings - they don't recommend it, and actually discourage it saying they are not responsible for the pets belongings. So your pet really doesn't get any creature comforts of home (unless you do bring it, and it gets taken away). You can bring their food or any meds they are on. Just have to make sure you write it down for them very clearly what to give and how much - so that they can enter it into their system. Also - when boarding your pets, you have to tell them when their immunizations are due - NOT when they were given. So a printout from the vet saying when immunizations were given is not sufficient. Kinda backwards.
You have to sign a waiver basically handing your pooch over to the kennel if funds are not paid off, or if you fail to get your pet within 7 days without notifying them. (Honestly that's the first place I have ever had to do that at, not sure if it's a Vegas Valley thing only or not.)
Owner is NOT very personable to folks at all and can give off a very rude personality, so she is not at the front desk that often. The folks who do run the front desk tend to be a lot more outgoing.
On to the routine. Pooches are kenneled about 5pm or beforehand for the night. They are given at least 3 - 4 potty breaks during the day (about 15 min each) on top of the being let out so staff can clean the kennels. You pay for any extra time in the grassy zone that's for about a half hour. They don't offer walking services.
Not sure how much interaction with the pets there is.
Last time we had picked our pooch up - we were told our pooch was acting very timid around the male employee, and not wanting to be around him. VERY uncharacteristic of our pooch who is usually trying to pummel people over to get to their face to kiss and lick them! Plus when we go to drop our pooch off there - she tries to actually fight going in! Now that should say SOMETHING to us. I might have to find another location. I don't want to place our pooch in a place that's going to freak her out or make her act in a negative way, especially for a pooch who is constantly trying to be your shadow and craving human companionship!
They do have a pick up and drop off service, but not sure how much that is, or if there is any driving limitations. They do have after hour fees for late pickups. We did a late pickup once, and it was a hassle because we had to be very specific with our timing even though we were on the road still, and didn't know what the road conditions would be like. So, I would recommend save yourself the hassle, pay the extra night, and just pick up the next day. Now the front desk staff will point out if you arrive before 8 am - then you do not get charged an extra day, but anything after that, and you do get charged.
Grooming services are also offered for all. If you choose to NOT use this service - your pet will be somewhat matted, coat full of a white powder, and kind of grimy feeling. So you will have to wash your pet pretty much as soon as you get them in the door. Kind of a disappointment to us, as at our last kennel our pooch was always fresh smelling, and had a silky smooth coat.
So not the best, certainly not the worst, but in the middle at a 3 star rating.
