  • I purchased a mattress cover for 125$ thinking I was buying something to protect from bed bugs. Got home, took it out of the packaging and realized it did not have a zipper to close it around the mattress. 30 mins later I was back in the store. Manager Bob would not refund me, saying it was against health regulations (????). I told him (repeatedly) that I bought the item in error, almost pleading with him that it was 125$ I could not just throw away. His reply: "I'm not Costco, I can't right this off and I can't resell this". Ya, his reasons against refunding changed frequently through this ordeal. I returned home, called The Brick customer service, was told there is no reason why I can't return the item and no reason for him to refuse to refund me. They told me to contact the manager and inform him of this and that they would put a note on my file. I returned. Bob "didn't care" what Corporate had to say, it was his store and he wasn't refunding me. He pretty much made me feel that I was there just to make his life horrible and rip off his store. I kept telling him I'm not an asshole I just made a mistake. It was quickly becoming apparent to me that this was an impasse I would not be getting passed. After he threatened to call the cops and have me removed I was forced to call customer service while in the store. The super nice girl on the phone was sympathetic and realized I was dealing with a nightmare. She spoke to him, he told her about the signs saying no refunds (oh now there are signs too!). So, ya, it's his store and not the Brick, I guess. Although the sign outside says The Brick. Turns out this was all over the $80 it cost Bob to buy it from the manufacturer. Ya, I got the whole story on "his" store. Oh ya, he also said that he was intelligent, and that I was not. Too bad because we bought our box springs there a few months back from a very nice lady that works there. Bob told me he doesn't make money on box springs. Anyways guess I'll try selling this on Kijiji for 20$. Thanks Bob. Thanks Brick.
