It was a chilly April eve in Kensington. Cold Tea was ram-jammed ('twas another bum-in-face night for those sitting down), and Supermarket was both far for my little feet to take me and too dancy for my and my date's tastes. Enter: Thirst and Miserable. I'd walked by a few weeks earlier and had put the spot on my Must Check It list; it seemed like the perfect opportunity!
The atmosphere was relaxed and non-pretentious. I joked with the two cheerful and exact opposite of pretentious bartenders while getting my beer and made friends with some of the gentlemen at the bar rail and at the table beside mine; where in Toronto do you find this kind of camaraderie?!? And the prices? So reasonable! 2 pints and tip set me back less than $15. I was pleased with the selection; some interesting finds as well as tried and true beers to chose from.
My only detraction is related to the "aroma" of the joint. It's directly beside one of the fish mongers on Baldwin, and should you need to use the lady's (or the gent's) downstairs, you know it! I didn't notice the smell upstairs, but my date said he could. However, the scent is certainly not going to keep me from being Thirsty nor Miserable.
