I made a reservation for two nights at a hotel. My confirmation said Expedia does not charge anything and also said that the hotel does not have a cancelation or change fee as long as it was done a day ahead. I called to keep the first night, but cancel the second and the Expedia rep told me I would be charged $40 more for the first night. When I said this is not what their confirmation said and would be in violation of the contract we had created, she insisted. I asked to speak to her supervisior. . . I was kept on the phone for a very long period of time and then, when a gentleman answered and I explained my frustration, it turns out Expedia transferred me to the hotel! Of course, the hotel said they would not charge me differently and my problem was with Expedia, but I never could get an Expedia supervisor. So, what did I do? Cancel the entire reservation with Expedia and book the single night at the same rate I previously had using Hotels.com.
