  • We lived here for almost three years and moved out last month. Here's the good, the bad and the ugly. First, the GOOD: - The new management was super friendly and responsive to maintenance needs. One time, our garage wouldn't close and I called at around closing time. After chatting with the manager, Stacey, she personally came over and helped. When we've had water emergencies, they were super responsive. - The gym was recently updated so comments about the gym equipment not working shouldn't be relevant anymore. The new gym is super nice. - Maintenance was always nice and responsive. - The complex is dog friendly. - Every contact I had with everyone in the office was professional and kind. - There's an online system for submitting maintenance requests; which is convenient. - When we moved out, I disputed some charges and Stacey did remove some of the amounts. I want to give her kudos for listening and doing that. However, we still dispute a big ticket item. See below for that. The BAD and UGLY: - We moved, in part, because of the CONSTANT marijuana smells in the building we were in (Bldg G). I complained to the old management and the new management on multiple occasions. I'm certain there was at least one drug dealer on our floor. We were on the 3rd and 4th floor and shared the fire escape area on the 4th floor. The smell was rampant and came through our doors and the smell came down the stairs. I hope that a family didn't/doesn't move in that building because the smell was strong. There were 3 apartments on the 3rd floor that continually smoke it as of the date we moved out. - In June, one day between 10 am - noon, my daughter's car was put on three bricks and all four tires and hubcaps (the entire mount) was stolen. We filed a police report and advised the apartments. Two days later, we saw the same thing happened to another car. These weren't flashy cars either. - The stairs in our building were constantly dirty and sticky with stuff. Only in the last few weeks there I noticed maintenance power cleaning the stairs. I don't know if this is kept up consistently since last month but it certainly wasn't during our tenure. - I saw drug deals happening in the parking lot during mid day while children ran around there. When they spotted me calling the police, the car took off quickly. This happened on several occasions and happened as late as June '17. I reported it to the office. - There were ALWAYS spiderwebs and spiders on the hallway light fixtures. Sometimes, I put maintenance requests in but got tired of it continuing and sometimes they didn't really clean the cobwebs. We'd sometimes swipe at the spiders and, yes, they did come spray, but the spiderweb problem persisted and I can't tell you how much fun it was to walk under these things all the time. - We've noticed dog owners really being lax in the last 6 months in picking up after their furry babies. My son almost fell in dog crap one day. We saw dog poop on gravel AND grass every.single.day. - I could never sit outside on my back porch because of the cigarette smoke from people below us, beside us and across the way in bldg H... like ever. It was almost like when I went outside, everyone else decided it was time for a smoke - lol. I'm sensitive to smoke. - Occasionally, our maintenance requests would be closed without completion and I'd have to reopen them. Annoying but didn't happen often. - Some people in the back parking lot don't know how to park. People will take up 2 spots or sometimes even park sideways. Super annoying. - Because we lived in the back area, parking was okay for us. However, we would not have moved here had we moved to a building further inward where there isn't much parking. There are covered parking spots but I sure felt bad for the people that carried babies, strollers and groceries from the back parking lot to buildings further in. Be aware of this when looking at the property and know where the available parking is in relation to your apartment. - As mentioned above about the move out statement, we were charged almost $600 for carpet replacement. In my entire life, I've NEVER been charged for carpet. I talked to Stacey and Gail about the situation. I understand where they are coming from but we'll agree to disagree. It's crazy to me. My lawyer said that in the last few years apartments have become more aggressive about passing on costs to tenants moving out. BEWARE of this issue when making your decision about where to live. We lived at 909 during my intense cancer treatments (I'm a 4-time cancer thriver) and we were thankful for the reasonable rent during a time when I experienced huge medical bills. I don't know what would have happened had I been somewhere more expensive during that time. For that, I'm thankful. However, the 'bad and ugly' outweighed the 'good' in the end which is why we moved.
