| - I really do not understand how such bad food could happen to us at the place so highly praised by others. I had two trips to Humble bar - one with two of my girlfriends, where we had just drinks and dessert, and second with my husband. Being impressed by my first visit ( drinks and dessert were delicious), I came back to dive into the refreshingly different goodness of the place. In simpler words, we ordered artichoke appetizer and Margherita pizza both highly recommended by the waitress. While artichoke dish ( 2 artichokes stuffed with goat cheese and baked in the oven), was an interesting prelude to the meal, pizza ended up being a complete disaster. When I ordered Margherita pizza, I imagined the pizza described by Elizabeth Gilbert in "Eat. Love. Pray". Remember her eating this thin-crust delicious pizza in Rome? How she admits it was so sinful, but so good.
Instead we got ourselves a very dry, over-cooked, rubbery, blend far cry from the pizza. With the first bite, I got very confused: I was watching how they make pizza (you can see the entire process from the bar), I couldn't believe all that magic of pizza-making produced such garbage. I almost dislocated the jaw and take out the crown while eating it. And you would think, that something like this will never happen to you in a vey heart of Lakewood where gourmet pizza is sold at almost every corner.
But it sure did. I still give place three stars for the atmosphere, service and quality booze ( the wine and apple cider we ordered were really good).
But I won't be back. At least not for the pizza.
